With gloomy winter days becoming more frequent, I’ve got you covered with all my favourite shows on Netflix.

We all love a good Netflix binge, especially when the days are getting colder. Here’s what I’ve been watching lately! All these shows have more than one season available on Netflix in NZ.

Queen of the South

This show had me hooked from the opening scene, showing girl boss Teresa Mendoza as queen of her empire. The rest of the show is a flashback, showing where she started and the way she continues to fight for what she wants when the odds are always stacked against her. I’ve only seen season 1 & 2 on Netflix, but season 3 will be coming out in the next few months & I CAN’T WAIT.

Designated Survivor

The first season of this political show is probably my favourite, while Tom Kirkman navigates his new job – President of the United States – in the aftermath of a terrorist attack on the State of the Union, claiming the lives of the president and the Cabinet. The genuineness of Kirkman, his compassion, the loyalty of his staff, the affairs that they deal with has kept me watching the following seasons.

Homeland

I love a good show with multiple seasons. Homeland is up to Season 8 (although only 4 seasons are currently on NZ Netflix) and follows the story of Carrie Mathison, a CIA agent who has bipolar disorder. It is action-packed, political at times and has a strong female lead.

How To Get Away With Murder

If you haven’t seen this show already, you need to get on board ASAP. The show has you constantly guessing who killed who and how it happened with each episode revealing another piece of the mystery. Although there are a whole bunch of characters, you get to know each one of them really well, their personal struggles and the issues they tackle together as their lives intertwine. Annalise Keating is a strong, yet vulnerable women lead. She is powerful, but also struggles with alcoholism. With 4 seasons on NZ Netflix, it’s perfect for binging.

Good Girls

This is one of my most recent shows and I loved every minute. It’s funny, it’s clever, it’s almost relatable (if I was a suburban Mom robbing a grocery store). I can recommend this for anyone who wants a more chilled out show, but still packed with drama, lots of laughs & plot twists. It’s also perfect for binging.

Dynasty

This is what I’m currently watching and while it’s so different to the crime & action series that I typically watch, I’m absolutely loving the dramas of the Carrington family. Featuring another girl boss, Fallon, building her empire, we get a look into the complex lives of the rich & famous family. With all the rich-people scandals, it almost feels like modern day Downton Abbey – and guess what – the butler is kiwi!

Let me know in the comments down below if you have seen any of these shows, if you’re going to watch them, or if you have other shows that you love! Let’s chat!
